Morwenstow commands a rugged stretch of the North Cornish coast where the Atlantic wind perpetually reshapes the cliff-tops. It lies 5.3 miles north of Bude (from Bude: bearing 358°T, OS grid SS 208 150), and is situated north-west of Woodford village. The landscape falls sharply away toward the sea, falling within the protected bounds of the Steeple Point To Marsland Mouth Sssi where salt-crusted gorse clings to the precipice. High above the churning surf, the towering silhouette of Henna Cliff rises to meet the grey, shifting light of the western sky. A singular, ancient Stone Cross In Parish Churchyard remains as a silent witness to centuries of maritime storms and ecclesiastical solitude. Morwenstow retains a stark, elemental character that defies the softening influence of more sheltered inland parishes. Here, the earth seems to hold its breath against the relentless pressure of the tide, offering a sanctuary of granite and gales.
