A short walk along the coast path brings one to Porthcurnick Beach, where the tide retreats to reveal a wide, firm expanse of sand that children and gulls alike claim as their own. History remains anchored in the landscape, marked by the ancient, weathered stone of the Wayside Cross in St Gerran's churchyard, which has watched the centuries dissolve into the sea mist.
