About Seworgan

Seworgan emerges from the granite-strewn landscape of Cornwall as a quiet collection of dwellings defined by the rugged character of the Lizard Peninsula. It lies 3.7 miles north-east of Helston (from Helston: bearing 53°T, OS grid SW 709 308), and is situated north-west of Constantine village. The surrounding terrain rises toward the ancient, weathered heights of Brill Hill, where the air feels thinner and carries the sharp, salt-edged scent of the Atlantic. Seworgan maintains a stoic presence amidst fields divided by low stone hedges that seem to hold the heat of the sun long after dusk has settled. A short distance to the west, the Round Cairn with its beacon hut speaks to a much older, silent history of signalling across the high moorland. The light here is particularly translucent, catching the grey surfaces of the local stone and rendering the architecture a pale, ghostly silver in the late afternoon. Life in Seworgan moves with the deliberate pace of the seasons, dictated by the turning of the earth and the distant, rhythmic influence of the coast.
