It lies 7.5 miles north-west of Launceston (from Launceston: bearing 313°T, OS grid SX 245 929), and is situated east-north-east of Canworthy Water village. To the north-east, the landscape opens toward the gentle, winding course of the Caudworthy Water, where the stream carves a path through the heavy, dark earth. Further west, the terrain rises toward the protected expanses of the Greenamoor SSSI, a tract of land where the grasses turn to a bruised, autumnal bronze under the weight of the Atlantic clouds. South Wheatley keeps a modest vigil over the surrounding fields, its character shaped by the persistent, cooling winds that sweep across from the coast.
