About Tregenna

Tregenna commands a quiet corner of the Cornish landscape, where the land tilts firmly toward the restless friction of the Atlantic. It lies 7.8 miles east-south-east of Truro (from Truro: bearing 107°T, OS grid SW 945 406), and is situated north-east of Portloe village. Salt-heavy winds scour the high ground here, stripping the soil down to the raw, ancient rock that defines the peninsula. A short distance to the east, the twin coves of Little Perlea and Great Perlea catch the morning light, their shingle shores shifting rhythmically under the pull of the tide. Tregenna holds its own against this maritime exposure, defined by low-slung stone walls that break the force of the gales. Beyond the immediate fields, the earth rises toward the prominence of Puckey’s Hill, offering a vantage point where the sky seems to stretch wider than elsewhere in the county. The horizon remains uncluttered, save for the occasional silhouette of a distant trawler carving a white wake across the grey expanse of the Channel. Here, the geography dictates a spare and honest existence, far removed from the ornamental gloss of more sheltered coastal retreats.
