About Treworga

Treworga commands a quiet watch over the rolling, verdant topography of the Roseland Peninsula. It lies 5.2 miles east-south-east of Truro (from Truro: bearing 120°T, OS grid SW 897 402), and is situated south of Ruan Lanihorne village. The light here takes on a peculiar, burnished quality, catching the slate roofs and stone boundaries as if trying to reclaim the masonry for the earth. To the north-north-west, the tidal currents of the Ruan River pulse through the landscape with a rhythmic, silver persistence. Treworga remains defined by the deep agricultural silences that have long governed these narrow, high-hedged lanes. A short distance to the south-east, the ancient earthworks of the Veryan Castle Multiple Enclosure Fort rise as a sudden, grassy interruption to the smooth horizon. This proximity to such prehistoric remnants lends a gravity to the air, grounding the modern day in the slow, persistent memory of the soil. Throughout the turning seasons, the horizon remains vast and unencumbered, allowing the grey Atlantic sky to dictate the mood of the fields.
