How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Baneins

Baneins sits quietly within the sprawling, pond-dotted landscape of la Dombes, an area defined by its reflective waters and the gentle shift of light across the fields. Nearby, the river le Masanand winds through the terrain, while the woodland of les Combes offers a sanctuary of shade. This region, touched by the mist of the corridor in winter, serves as a gateway to the Geopark Beaujolais. A short journey brings one to the historic Porte de Villars, the storied stones of the Château de Châtillon-sur-Chalaronne, or the curious world preserved within the Musée du train miniature.
