How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Lantenay

Lantenay rests within the rugged folds of the Chaîne de l'Avocat, a landscape defined by the quiet passage of the Bief de Chaleyriat and the dense, encroaching shadows of the Forêt de Limand. Near the heights of the Crêt des Éculaz, the air carries the cool breath of the surrounding industrial valleys. Explorers may wander toward the haunting Ruines de la Chartreuse de Meyriat, where stone walls whisper of solitude, or descend into the cool, limestone depths of the Grottes du Cerdon. Further along the trail, the Cascade de la Charabotte spills its silver energy, a sharp contrast to the mist-heavy, quiet winters of this interior realm.
