How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Montord

Montord rests in the quiet heart of the Allier, a commune shaped by the slow passage of water and seasons. Nearby, the currents of la Bouble and the wider reach of la Sioule carve through the landscape, while the distant Bois des Ruis offers a dark, wooded contrast to the open fields. A wanderer might discover the refined stone of Château d’Artangues close by, or venture toward the crumbling silence of the Chapelle de Reugny. The horizon holds the suggestion of the distant chaîne des Puys, where the earth’s ancient volcanic fire once left its imprint upon the rolling, fertile plains.
