How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Lalouvesc

Lalouvesc sits cradled within the rugged folds of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, where the air carries the scent of box and thyme after rain. Nearby, the river le Taillarès winds through a landscape dominated by the looming Mont Besset and the dark, sheltering canopy of the Bois de Versailles. The village itself is anchored by the Basilique Saint-Régis, a spiritual landmark that gazes over the mistral-scoured ridges. Beyond the immediate horizon, the Géoparc des Monts d'Ardèche reveals deep geological time, while the stone silhouette of the Ancien Château offers a silent, weathered testament to the region's long-standing connection to these terraced hillsides.
