How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Laviolle

Laviolle rests within the Parc Naturel Régional des Monts d'Ardèche, a landscape defined by the Ruisseau de Varneyre and the sheltering presence of the Forêt Domaniale du Pradou. Here, the earth speaks of schist and chestnut, where terraced hillsides rise toward the heights of la Cham du Cros. Nearby, the dramatic Cascade du Ray-Pic tumbles through the volcanic rock, while the sturdy walls of the Château de Craux stand as quiet witnesses to the passing seasons. From the high vantage of les Coulets, the horizon stretches toward the Suc de Pradou, capturing the rugged, mistral-scoured essence of this ancient, silent terrain.
