How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Celles

Celles nestles within the Puys et Plateau du Limon, a landscape defined by high pastures and the deep, volcanic silence of the Auvergne. Near the Ruisseau d'Escouralier, the terrain rises toward the summit of le Peuch, while the nearby Bois de Fonteilles offers a quiet sanctuary of trees. A visitor might wander toward the shadow of the Commanderie des Templiers or discover the ancient, weathered stones of the Dolmen de Touls. Further afield, the rugged silhouette of the Château du Sailhant stands as a sentinel over this austere, elemental terrain, where the air remains sharp and the horizon stretches toward the distant, rolling mystery of the regional nature park.
