How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Le Monteil

Le Monteil sits quietly upon the Plateau de Trizac, a landscape defined by the ancient, volcanic breath of the Auvergne. Here, the earth is marked by the Ruisseau de Milhac and the deep stillness of the Bois de Janiac. Within the Bassin de la Dordogne biosphere, life follows the slow rhythm of the high pastures. Visitors might explore the Site d'Escalade d'Auteroche, where basalt cliffs challenge the sky, or wander toward the Château d'Auzers, a stone sentinel guarding local history. Nearby, the Moulin de la Grange stands as a quiet reminder of the water’s persistent turning through this rugged, basalt-strewn countryside.
