How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Vebret

Vebret rests upon the Plateau de Trizac, a rugged expanse where the air holds the crisp promise of high pastures and long winters. The landscape is shaped by the nearby la Sumène, threading through a terrain of dark woods like les Turons, while the horizon pulls the eye toward the distant Puy l'Abbé. Within the quietude of the Bassin de la Dordogne, visitors discover the stoic Château de Couzan rising amidst the fields, the ancient stones of the Ruines de Thynière, and the deep, verdant shelter of the Bois de Vebret. It is a land of basalt resilience, defined by its quiet slopes and the enduring rhythm of the uplands.
