How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Charols

Charols rests within the quiet embrace of the Drôme, where the landscape is defined by the winding course of le Roubion and the gentle slopes of the Montagne de Faraud. Nearby, the woodland of le Goutteron offers a sanctuary of shifting light and shadow. Beyond the village, the horizon is anchored by the distant silhouette of le Grand Quinson. Visitors may find the weathered stone of the Château de Soyans standing in silent vigil over the valley, the serene remnants of the Abbaye Sainte-Anne, or the historic walls of the Château de Genas, each echoing the enduring presence of the past across these ancient, sun-drenched fields.
