How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Léoncel

Léoncel lies nestled within the Parc Naturel Régional du Vercors, where the shadow of the Montagne de l'Épenet stretches across the valley floor. The Rivière de Léoncel winds through this rugged territory, flanked by the dense, silent expanse of the Forêt Domaniale de Léoncel. High above, the Roc de Serves commands the horizon, while the nearby Lac de Bouvante mirrors the thin, bright air of the heights. Explorers can venture toward the Gorges d'Omblèze to witness deep geological scars, explore the subterranean depths of the Trou du pot de la mine, or climb the slopes of Serre du Mortier for a sweeping view of the surrounding wilderness.
