OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.
Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.
📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.
Mode d'emploi.

Saint-Roman rests within the embrace of the Montagne de Beaufayn, where the thin bright air carries the faint, rhythmic sound of distant cowbells. Below, the river le Bès traces its path through a landscape defined by the nearby Guéra woodland and the shadow of the mountain moving across the valley floor. A short distance away, the Parc Naturel Régional du Vercors guards a rugged, high-altitude wilderness. Visitors can explore the solemn, quiet stones of the Abbaye cistercienne du Valcroissant, wander the local paths toward the summit of Serre Dur, or delve into the regional heritage housed within the Musée Archéologique de Die du Diois.
