How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Alleyras

Alleyras rests within the rugged folds of the Monts de la Margeride, a place defined by the steady, winding presence of l'Allier and the encroaching shadows of the Bois de la Bourelle. Here, the landscape is marked by the basaltic weight of the highlands and the quiet persistence of the plateau. Visitors might explore the Ancien Moulin de Challier, a relic of local industry, or venture toward the Barrage de Poutès where the water gathers in stillness. Further afield, the landscape rises toward le Devès, offering vistas that capture the elemental, volcanic character of this high, wind-swept country.
