How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Céaux-d'Allègre

Céaux-d'Allègre rests within the rugged embrace of l'Emblavès, a landscape defined by the volcanic pulse of the Auvergne. Here, the earth swells into ancient domes and dark basalt ridges, while the nearby Borne Orientale traces a quiet path through high pasture. The air carries the scent of wind-swept plateaus, where deep woodland like Bois Redon offers shelter from the sharp winter chill. Beyond the village, one finds the haunting silhouettes of the Château d'Allègre ruins, the volcanic summit of Mont Bar, and the striking rock and chapel of Saint-Michel d'Aiguilhe, each standing as a testament to this land of stone and fire.
