How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Chanteuges

Chanteuges rests in a landscape shaped by the deep, winding courses of la Desges and l'Allier. Here, the earth holds the memory of ancient volcanoes, where dark basalt stone defines the architecture and the silence of the Forêt Domaniale de Pourcheresse offers a quiet refuge. Beyond the fields, the silhouette of la Durande rises against the sky. A visitor might wander through the ancient Prieuré de Chanteuges, feel the weight of deep time at the Abri préhistorique du Blot, or gaze toward the peaks of the Parc Naturel Régional du Livradois-Forez, where the high horizon suggests a world of hidden springs and austere, windswept pastures.
