How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Javaugues

Javaugues rests quietly within the Parc Naturel Régional du Livradois-Forez, anchored by the rolling expanse of the Plateau de Chalet. The Ruisseau de la Tailladisse winds through this landscape of deep woodland and high pasture, where the dark basaltic character of the region suggests a history carved by ancient volcanoes. Nearby, the summit of Suc du Tour offers a vantage point over the rugged terrain. A short journey reveals the imposing Château de Domeyrat and the historic Basilique Saint-Julien, while the Pont de la Bajasse stands as a testament to the quiet, enduring architecture of this elevated, wind-swept country.
