OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.
Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.
📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.
Mode d'emploi.

Le Brignon rests upon the high, austere plateau of the Haute-Loire, where the basalt landscape whispers of ancient volcanic fires. Surrounded by the dense, silent expanse of the Grand Bois, the commune is carved by the proximity of the river Bêthe and the nearby Loire. Here, the air carries the sharp scent of high pastures and dark stone. A short journey leads to the tumbling Cascade de la Beaume, while the weathered ruins of the Château de Beaufort stand as somber sentinels over the valley. Nearby, the Église abbatiale Saint-Chaffre remains a testament to the enduring, quiet gravity of this rugged, mineral-rich earth.
