How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Saint-Pierre-Eynac

Saint-Pierre-Eynac rests within the folds of the Massif du Meygal, a landscape defined by the ancient, rugged architecture of volcanoes and dark basalt. Here, the earth holds the memory of fire, expressed through the quiet presence of Mont Chanis and the hidden depths of the Grottes de Peylenc. Nearby, the water of la Sumène traces its path through a terrain of high pastures and dark stone, while the Bois de Sainzelles offers a dense, sheltering canopy. It is a place of long, contemplative views where the atmosphere is shaped by the austere beauty of the plateau.

Beyond the immediate horizons, the wider countryside reveals the historical weight of the region. A visitor might find the Ancienne abbaye de Doué, a silent witness to centuries of devotion, or stand before the formidable walls of the Château de Volhac. Further afield, the Cathédrale Notre-Dame du Puy rises against the sky, a beacon of stone amidst the rugged peaks. To wander these paths is to encounter the raw, mineral essence of a land where the pace is dictated by the seasons and the enduring stillness of the hills.
