How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Tailhac

Tailhac nestles within the rugged folds of the Haute-Loire, a landscape defined by the quiet flow of the Ravin de Malavay and the dark, enduring shadows of the Bois de la Barthe. Here, the earth speaks of volcanic origins, where the Pié de la Rode rises above the commune like an ancient sentinel. Nearby, the Prieuré de Chanteuges anchors the valley in stone and silence, while the imposing Collégiale Saint-Gal invites reflection. Beyond these, the landscape stretches toward the distant, hazy crest of the Mont Mouchet, offering a terrain of basalt and high pasture that feels far removed from the bustling world.
