How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Tiranges

Tiranges rests within the rugged folds of l'Emblavès, where the Ruisseau de Boissière carves its path through the quiet earth. This landscape is a tapestry of high pasture and ancient basalt, framed by the shadows of the Bois de Cour. Nearby, the dramatic arches of the Pont du Diable span the rock, a testament to older ways of crossing the wild terrain. Further afield, the crumbling walls of the Château de Chalencon stand watch over the valley, while the Moulin d'Ancette turns steadily near the water, grounding the visitor in the rhythm of this upland realm near the Parc Naturel Régional du Livradois-Forez.
