How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Torsiac

Torsiac sits within the rugged, volcanic soul of the Haute-Loire, a landscape defined by the deep-cut Gorges de l'Alagnon and the soaring heights of la Chau. Here, the earth feels ancient, marked by basalt stone and high pastures where cattle graze under vast, shifting skies. Close by, the ruins of Château Saint-Vincent stand as a silent testament to time, while the Église Saint-Sébastien offers a quiet, dark-stone refuge. Nearby, the Parc Naturel Régional des Volcans d'Auvergne stretches toward the horizon, inviting wanderers to explore the wild, windswept ridges and the hidden tranquility of the Bois de Combe Savy.
