How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Vougy

Vougy sits within a landscape defined by the shifting shadows of the Chaîne du Bargy. The air here carries the scent of larch and spruce, caught in a valley where the rushing waters of l'Arve carve through the earth. Nearby, the Gorges du Bronze offer a glimpse into the raw limestone heart of the region, while the silhouette of le Môle dominates the horizon, its presence felt in the thin, bright air. It is a place of quiet transitions, where the mountain's shadow moves across the valley floor, indifferent to the passage of seasons.

Visitors to this part of Haute-Savoie find themselves surrounded by the remnants of a storied alpine heritage. A short journey away, the Musée de l'horlogerie et du décolletage preserves the intricate mechanics of local craft, contrasting with the stoic, weathered stone of the Château de Bonneville. Further afield, the Église Saint-Martin de Bonneville stands as a silent sentinel of the valley, while the waters of the Lac de Flérier offer a brief, reflective pause. These landmarks, scattered like memories across the landscape, invite a slower pace of discovery in the shadow of the peaks.
