Charavines s'établit sur les hauteurs du Plateau de Bièvre, là où le paysage est imprégné par la présence sereine et profonde du Lac de Paladru. À proximité, la rivière la Fure trace son sillage dans le relief, tandis que les sommets du Mont Levatel et du Mont Follet veillent sur la vallée.
