Châteaugay sits upon the edge of the Limagne's rich plain, where the landscape begins its slow, tectonic climb toward the Monts Dôme. To the west, the horizon is held by the silhouette of the Puy de Chanturgue, while the slopes nearby are softened by the ancient timber of the Marcoin woodland. Below, the water of la Rase du Marais traces the lower fields, a quiet artery feeding the land before the currents of l'Allier wind further east.
