How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Villeneuve

Villeneuve lies within the rolling landscape of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, cradled by the gentle slopes of la Chau. The nearby le Lambronnet river murmurs through the countryside, its presence hinting at the larger l'Allier further afield. Woodland like the Bois d'Eyry offers shaded paths, while the distant Puy d'Ysson watches over the scene. Visitors might explore the imposing Château de Villeneuve-Lembron, a stone sentinel from another era, or venture a short distance to the formidable Château fort de Chalus, where history echoes from its ancient walls.
