OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.
Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.
📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.
Mode d'emploi.

Épierre sits in the heart of the Savoie, cradled by the rugged Chaîne de la Lauzière. Here, the thin bright air carries the faint sound of cowbells from the high pastures, while the shadow of le Gros Villan drifts across the valley floor. The Couloir de la Caille flows nearby, feeding into the wider waters of l'Arc. A visitor might explore the haunting ruins of the Château d'Épierre, wander through the shaded woods of le Sécheron, or seek out the curious rock formations known as the Cheminées des Fées, standing as silent witnesses to the mountain's slow, geological time.
