How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Saint-André

Saint-André sits nestled within the Massif de la Vanoise, where the thin bright air carries the faint rhythm of cowbells and the scent of larch and spruce. The Rieu Béni flows close by, a gentle companion to the woodland of the Bois de Saint-André. Beyond the village, the landscape rises toward the Aiguille de Polset and the snow-dusted Col du Barbier. Visitors may explore the imposing stone walls of Fort Victor-Emmanuel or find stillness near the Lac de Bissorte. Further afield, the Monolithe de Sardières stands as a solitary sentinel of rock against the vast mountain sky.
