How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Ampilly-les-Bordes

Ampilly-les-Bordes rests quietly upon the Plateau Baudot, a landscape shaped by the gentle rise of la Couelle and the nearby woodland of Bois des Vendues. The valley is traced by the clear waters of la Planchotte, while the wider horizon is marked by the presence of la Seine. This is a region of limestone escarpments and autumn mist, where the Aire d'Adhésion du Parc National de Forêts invites slow discovery. Nearby, the Menhir de Pierre Fiche stands as a silent sentinel of deep time, while the Château de Jours-lès-Baigneux and the Château de Duesme anchor the rolling fields in history.
