How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Chanceaux

Chanceaux rests within the quiet folds of the Côte-d'Or, a landscape defined by the Ruisseau du Feu and the rising slopes of the Montagne de la Trembleroie. Here, the air carries the scent of the Forêt Domaniale de Jugny, while autumn mist often clings to the valleys. Beyond the immediate fields, the region reveals its character through the archaeological sanctuary at Sources de la Seine, where the river begins its long journey. Nearby, the grand scale of the Abbatiale de la Purification et Saint-Seine invites reflection, while the historic Siège d'Alésia marks the wider countryside with its enduring, somber resonance.
