How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Chaux

Chaux rests quietly within the Montagne de Beaune, a commune defined by the deep greenery of the Bois de la Montagne and the gentle passage of le Meuzin. The landscape is a soft tapestry of limestone escarpments and vine-lined côtes, where the air holds the scent of damp earth and autumn mist. Nearby, the history of the land reveals itself at the Site archéologique des Bolards, while the Puits Groseille offers a glimpse into the region’s rugged natural depth. Further afield, the Butte de Vergy rises on the horizon, watching over a countryside of cellars and stone walls.
