How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Courlon

Courlon rests upon the limestone folds of the Plateau de Langres, a quiet commune cradled within the Aire d'Adhésion du Parc National de Forêts. The nearby waters of la Tille de Bussières trace the valley floor, while the dark, ancient canopy of the Bois de Nachot stretches across the horizon. Visitors might wander toward the vestiges of the Villa gallo-romaine des Tuillières to contemplate the deep past, or seek the solitary Menhir de Pierre Fiche standing in the fields. Further afield, the silent stone walls of the Abbaye d'Auberive offer a place of profound reflection amidst the autumn mists.
