How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Étalante

Étalante rests quietly upon the Plateau Baudot, a place where the river le Falot carves its way through a landscape defined by deep woodland and the expansive Aire d'Adhésion du Parc National de Forêts. Here, autumn mist often clings to the valleys, softening the edges of the nearby Cirque de la Coquille. A short journey leads visitors to the ancient Menhir de Pierre Fiche, standing as a silent sentinel in the fields. Further exploration reveals the weathered stone of the Château de Duesme and the stoic beauty of the Forêt de la Fossillière, where nature holds a timeless, quiet dominion over the rolling terrain.
