How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Hauteroche

Hauteroche sits quietly within the limestone folds of the Côte-d'Or, where the landscape is defined by the Montagne de la Trembleroie and the nearby woodland of le Trentot. The river l'Ozerain flows through this tranquil terrain, shadowed by the summit of Teureau des Olières. Nearby, the history of the region lingers at the Fouilles d'Alésia, while the nearby Abbaye Saint-Joseph de Clairval offers a sense of enduring stillness. Those drawn to the wilder corners of the landscape might explore the Gorges de la Douix, where the earth reveals its ancient, rugged character beneath the vast, shifting autumn mists.
