How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Monthelie

Monthelie rests gracefully within the Montagne de Beaune, a landscape defined by limestone escarpments and vine-lined côtes. Nearby, the Ruisseau des Cloux wanders through the valley, while the Bois de la Serve offers a quiet refuge of dense woodland. The air here holds the scent of cellars and stone, a quiet terroir where autumn mist settles softly between the slopes. A short journey away, the Hospices de Beaune stand as a monument to history with their iconic tiled polychrome roofs. One might also explore the storied cellars of Château de Meursault or wander the grounds of Château de Pommard, both deeply rooted in this ancient viticultural soil.
