How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Lavernay

Lavernay sits nestled within the limestone plateaux of the Doubs, where the landscape unfolds in quiet, stepped horizons. Nearby, the Ruisseau de Recologne traces a gentle path through the fields, while the dark presence of le Dafoy woodland offers a sense of ancient, hushed stillness. In the wider countryside, the region reveals its character through the legacy of the salt works and the sharp, bright air of winter. A visitor might explore the Château de Cordiron, standing close by, or venture toward the Château de Recologne and the Château de Noironte, each bearing the stoic grace of this storied, rugged territory.
