How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Saint-Gorgon-Main

Saint-Gorgon-Main rests upon the limestone plateaux of the Montagne du Larmont, a place where the air holds the sharp, bright clarity of deep winter. Dark fir forests like the Bois du Gys hem in the fields, while the nearby Gorges de Nouailles carve ancient paths into the earth. Visitors often wander to the Source de la Loue, where karst waters surge from the rock, or climb le Mont Pelé to survey the rolling, stepped horizon. Nearby, the dramatic Le Crêt Monniot offers a vast vantage point over this quiet, rugged country, where the spirit of the land is defined by snow, stone, and the distant, looping course of la Loue.
