How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Verne

Verne sits quietly within the limestone plateaux of les Mondrevaux, a landscape defined by the deep, dark fir forest of Bois du Raz and the gentle flow of the Ru de Franot. This is a region of crisp air and hard winters, where the terrain rises toward the distant Roche de Châtard. Nearby, the wider countryside offers glimpses into the past, from the imposing silhouette of the Château de Montby to the quiet halls of the Abbaye Sainte-Odile. Visitors might also explore the Hôtel des Sires de Neuchâtel, finding a serene sense of place amidst the echoes of the Doubs winding through its gorges.
