How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Charmoille

Charmoille rests within the quiet geometry of the Haute-Saône, a landscape defined by the Ruisseau de la Vaugine and the deep, silent presence of the Bois Montgargant. The air here carries the bracing memory of limestone plateaux and hard winters. Beyond the fields, the wider countryside reveals the storied walls of the Abbaye de Montigny-lès-Vesoul, where echoes of the past linger in the stone. Nearby, the curious rock formation known as Le Sabot stands as a testament to geological patience, while the Musée Jean-Léon Gérôme invites quiet reflection upon the artistic heritage of the region, far from the bustle of the world.
