How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Mont-le-Vernois

Mont-le-Vernois sits quietly among the limestone plateaux of Haute-Saône, a landscape defined by the gentle cadence of the Ruisseau des Dindes and the nearby ascent of Mont Valléry. The terrain here is patterned with the deep green of the Bois de la Craye and the expansive, cool waters of the Lac de Vaivre. Beyond the village, a visitor might discover the ancient stone presence of the Ancienne maison forte de Chariez, the subterranean mysteries of the Grotte de Solborde, or the artistic legacy preserved within the Musée Jean-Léon Gérôme. It is a place of hard, bright winters and the quietude of the karst.
