How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Chêne-Bernard

Chêne-Bernard sits quietly within a landscape of gentle transitions, bordered by the Forêt de Longwy and the soft, reflective waters of the Étang de Chêne-Bernard. Nearby, la Dorme winds through the fields, while the larger flow of le Doubs traces its path in the wider countryside. This region, defined by limestone steps and deep, silent winters, invites slow observation. A short journey away, the ruins of the Abbaye Notre-Dame de Rosières offer a fragile testament to the past, while the Château de Parthey stands as a silent sentinel in the distance. The Écomusée de la Bresse bourguignonne preserves the quiet, enduring rhythms of this rural heartland.
