How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Cornod

Cornod rests within a landscape of limestone plateaux, cradled by the quiet currents of la Valouse and the shadow of the Montagne de Chamoise. This is a land of dark fir forests and sudden, dramatic karst features where the Parc Naturel Régional du Haut Jura begins to rise. Nearby, the Lac de Coiselet mirrors the sky, while the ancient walls of the Château de Montdidier (ruine) stand as silent witnesses to time. Travelers can explore the depths of the Caborne du Bœuf or walk toward the Gorges de l'Ain, tracing paths where the earth folds into deep, forested steps.
