How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Romange

Romange sits quietly within a landscape of limestone plateaux, cradled by the gentle flow of the Ruisseau de la Véze. Nearby, the grander Doubs loops through the countryside, while the distant Massif de la Serre frames the horizon. The air here carries the scent of the dark fir forest of the Forêt d'Arne, a short journey from the mysterious Grotte de l'Ermitage. Visitors might explore the evocative ruins of the Forges de Rans or wander the grounds of the Château de Falletans. It is a region defined by its deep winters and the quiet traditions of the land.
