How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Beauvernois

Beauvernois sits quietly within the textured landscape of the Plateau de Montciel, where the gentle la Chaux river winds through fields and nearby woodlands like the Forêt de la Chaux d'Évent. The atmosphere is defined by the soft autumn mist in the valleys and the presence of the Étang au Roch, a tranquil mirror to the sky. Exploring the wider countryside, one encounters the ruins of the Abbaye Sainte-Marie de Saint-Jean-le-Grand d'Autun, standing as a testament to medieval stonecraft, or the elegant Château d'Arlay, which presides over the land with historical grace. The Écomusée de la Bresse bourguignonne offers a profound window into the region's rural soul.
