How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Épinac

Épinac rests quietly within the rolling transition where the granite reaches of the Parc Naturel Régional du Morvan meet the limestone escarpments of the Montagne de Beaune. The landscape is defined by the gentle presence of la Petite Drée and the nearby shade of the Bois Lallemand, offering a sanctuary of verdant slopes. In the quiet pockets of this countryside, autumn mist often gathers in the valleys, clinging to the earth before the sun reveals the texture of the fields and the distant silhouette of the Mont de Rème rising on the horizon.

Beyond the village, the wider region unfolds with enduring grace. Travelers might discover the imposing Château de Sully, an architectural landmark set within the quietude of the plains, or wander toward the Cirque du Bout du Monde to witness the raw sculpture of the land. The Barrage du Pont du Roi offers a reflective surface near the edge of the hills, while the Château de Morlet stands as a silent sentinel of the past. It is a landscape of profound stillness, where the rhythm of the seasons dictates the pace of life among the wooded ridges and hidden valleys.
