How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About La Genête

La Genête sits within the quiet expanse of the Montagne ou Vannière, a landscape shaped by the gentle flow of la Sane and the nearby presence of the Bois de Molard. Here, the autumn mist often clings to the valleys, softening the edges of the fields. Visitors may explore the elegant Château de la Villeneuve, an anchor of local heritage, or venture toward the Gisement préhistorique de Sermoyer to uncover ancient traces in the earth. Further afield, the Nécropole protohistorique d'Ormes-Simandre offers a silent encounter with the deep past of this storied region, far from the hurried world.
